Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee…

Psalms 70:4

Today I woke up on the grumpy side, but then I let God take over.

I prayed that he would lead me to five people who might need a phone call that day.

Right away, a name came to mind and I called.  My friend needed to talk, and I listened as she explained her concerns about her son.  Her heart was hurting and I was grateful I  was able to spend some time with her to let her know I cared.

Next, I spoke to a few answering machines and just left a simple message, “Hi, I am thinking of you.”

Then, I reached a friend who I hadn’t talked to in months.  We spent the conversation laughing together and it was so much fun.

It was the next name that came to my mind that made me hesitate a little.  Don’t get me wrong…I like this woman, but I wondered if she would think I was strange for me to just call her out of the blue.  I reminded myself that I had prayed for names to come to mind and that this was an answer to that prayer.

Then I picked up the phone and called.

She sounded  surprised  but happy when I told her that I had been thinking of her and wanted to say hello.  We had a great conversation and became better friends.

I had so much fun seeking out my five friends that I kept praying to know who else might need a friendly hello that day.

Just focussing on being open to God’s little nudges made all the difference in my heart.

With His help,  I moved from grumpy to grateful.  I was amazed at the change that occurred inside of me in just a few hours.

Who needs a call from you today?
