You don’t have to look hard to find it…there really is goodness all around us, surrounding us, just waiting to be discovered. So, we went gathering. Our hope is that your weekend will be filled with courage, faith, hope, a little bit of laughter, and a whole bunch of love. YAY! It’s Friday! Let the goodness begin… (If you’re reading this in our newsletter, click here to view this post on our site so you can see the videos and other links.)
Typically, we divide our weekend inspiration into the different categories you can find on our blog – courage, faith, hope, laughter and love. But today, we thought we’d give you some inspiration and ideas for Thanksgiving. You see, we keep thinking about what Emily said in her post at the beginning of the month:
There is something I believe with all of my heart… it’s not coincidence that Thanksgiving falls before Christmas on the calendar. A season of gratitude always prepares our hearts for a season of giving.
So, instead of a bunch of different links on different topics, we really want to go deep and share some posts and inspiration we’ve found this month. And if there is something we’ve missed, we’d love it if you would share some of your Thanksgiving and gratitude inspiration with us on Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram.
Have you heard of the She Reads Truth Bible and Devotional app? Oh, we just love it. They just started a new devotional called “In Everything Give Thanks,” and it’s just wonderful. You can download the app for free and try out some of their full bible studies as well as the first day of the Thanksgiving devotional for free.
Giving thanks isn’t just a holiday, it’s how happy people live.
Simple decorations are often the key to making a holiday feel complete. If you are low on Thanksgiving decorations or maybe if you’ve already got your Christmas tree up and need an easy solution for decorating for dinner next Thursday, you really should check out Caravan Shoppe. They’ve got tons of adorable, downloadable, digital files that you can print at your local office supply shop that will make your dinner complete. You could also use their free Woodland Thank You card to start a tradition we read of recently – a family that gives everyone at dinner a thank you card right before they sit down to eat. They then take 10 minutes to write to someone who has impacted them in a positive way that year. They address and stamp the cards right then, and they sit down to eat dinner together. Such a great idea!
Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise.
One thing that always makes us feel gratitude and thanksgiving is taking time to look at the wonders of God’s creations and the beauty of the earth. Happiness is born from gratitude.
And finally, we can’t hear the word grateful without this beautiful song by John Bucchino popping into our head. The lyrics are simple and profound, and as you listen to this recording from Broadway singer Natalie Weiss, we hope you’ll reflect on the bounteous blessings in your life.
