This promise from Hosea struck me when I saw it on the Multiply Goodness Facebook page (check it out!) and I found it echoed the next morning on my daily Scripture calendar. Ok, Lord, I’m listening! The prophet Hosea calls to the people of Israel:

“Come, let us return to the LORD.
He has torn us to pieces
but he will heal us;
he has injured us
but he will bind up our wounds.

2 After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will restore us,
that we may live in his presence.

3 Let us acknowledge the LORD;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”

Why press on? Especially if we’re feeling torn up, worn down, injured…maybe defeated by our own failings?

Press on because of these promises: He will heal us, bind up our wounds, restore us, let us live in His presence, He will appear and come to us like nourishing rain! I’m currently in a season of restoration and reconciling my heart to how my story (life) has been written. These words of promise are the courage I need to press on to acknowledge the Lord, to trust His purposes—past, present and future.

And would you believe later that morning in other reading I came across Paul’s urging to do the same—to press on?

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)

Now I’m really listening. Press on!
