We’ve talked about this before…

My Bible group.

It might be one of the greatest blessings I have experienced over the past two years.

People often ask me what it is I love so much about it.

I don’t know if I even have the words to explain, because it’s about more than just opening the Bible.  It’s the little piece of paper that we pass around each week where we write down our struggles so that we all know how we can help through prayer.  It was the moment when they showed up at my daughter’s wedding and stayed the whole night because they wanted to meet my family and sit and talk with my mother and be a part of the most important moments of my life.  It is the laughter and the tears and the witness of the Spirit all wrapped up into one and a half hours every single week.

I love these ladies.

And I am coming to realize that sweet and lasting relationships are built when they are based on God’s word.  When our conversations are full of Him, and our friendships are blessed by Him, and we go back home and strengthen our families because of what we’ve learned together about Him, strong bonds are formed.

As women we long for relationships.  It has always been so.  And thus, Bunco parties, and jewelry events, and book clubs are formed.  And there is laughter, and companionship, and an escape from real life.  We need those escapes.  But times are changing.

We live in a world that often leaves us wanting.

And sometimes the depth of our yearning cannot be met by card games, or jewelry, or books.  And so we turn to the Internet, and Instagram, and Twitter, and we try to fill that longing with that which cannot satisfy.

But in the still places, somewhere on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning, women are gathering to fill that void with relationships built on Jesus Christ. It is happening because they have learned an important truth ––His Word fills, and strengthens, and heals.

I have learned that there is a power that comes when righteous women gather together to discuss His word.

There is a sweet Spirit that attends those circles…

and a strength that will carry you through.
